Methodology & assumptions
- Rules used: 2026.
- Basic CESG: 20% of the first $2,500 contributed each year (up to $500/year, or $1,000 with unused room), $7,200 lifetime. Assumed deposited about a month after each contribution.
- Basic QESI: 10% of contributions (up to $250/year, or $500 with accumulated rights), $3,600 lifetime. QESI is paid annually, so it's assumed deposited in May of the following year. Additional QESI isn't included.
- Additional CESG (2026 thresholds): 20% on the first $500 for adjusted family income of $58,523 or less; 10% for income over $58,523 up to $117,045; none above.
- Grants are estimated through the year the child turns 17. Special conditions for ages 16–17 aren't checked.
- Personal contributions are capped at the $50,000 lifetime limit per beneficiary; grants don't count toward it.
- Returns are compounded monthly at the rate you chose and are not guaranteed.
